Lakes Bled & Bohinj, the quintessence of Slovenia
Learn about the history of Slavic worship of the goddess Živa the equivalent of the ancient Venus on the island in the middle of the lake. Don’t miss the medieval gothic frescoes with the Eucharistic Christ in the presbytery of the church. The castle museum displays an informative collection elucidating the life in the region in the past centuries.
Near the lake of Bohinj we could visit the Church of St John the Baptist. Its interior is abundantly painted with frescoes dating from the 14th to the middle of the 16th century. The golden altar bears the date 1668.
